Changing times

The Internet is said to be the most transforming invention in human
history. Today, nobody could doubt that the Internet is an epoch-making
idea. Yet, it is still unclear what the greatest impact of the Internet
will turn out to be.
Although it might take a generation to see how the Internet will reshape
society and human behaviour, one area has seen a more drastic revolution
than the others: the reshaping of business is already happening and
it is happening fast.
Firms such as Amazon,
Yahoo! and eBay
are testaments to this new revolution. These Internet companies are
posing serious challenges to well-established companies, the so called
"clicks against bricks-and-mortar" battle.
How the Internet will change business
Companies can now use the Internet to make direct connections with
their customers for the first time. The Internet is helping companies
to lower costs and increase productivity dramatically. Entirely new
business models are emerging and new companies are emerging as well
to try to grap those new opportunities.
Reasons for businesses to get connected to the Internet are plenty.
In essence, if a company is not harnessing the new powers brought
by the Internet, it will certainly lose out to competitors who are. |
